I am currently being treated for rectal cancer. I had a large tumor in my rectum (7.5 centimeters) that was causing a great deal of pain. My oncologist put me on chemotherapy right away. I was fortunate the cancer hadn't spread to distant organs, only a few nearby lymphnodes. I have one more chemo treatment to go then it is on to either radiation or surgery. But in the few short months of chemo my tumor has shrunk to only 2.5 centimeters and my tumor marker count has gone from 25 to 6.
