Steve Garvey

Baseball legend Steve Garvey, 72, aka “Iron Man,” played first base for the Los Angeles Dodgers from 1969 to 1982, and with the San Diego Padres from 1983 to 1987. He is one of just 15 Major League baseball players to have 200-plus hits over at least six seasons. The retired MVP went on to become the head of Garvey Communications television production. In the fall of 2012 he was diagnosed with prostate cancer and underwent surgery at UCLA. It cured him. Since then, he has shared his success story to raise awareness of the disease.
