On November 26, Tina Turner celebrated her 80th birthday. She also shared a special video message with fans for her milestone birthday, People reports.

Posted on Turner’s official social media accounts, in the 32-second video, Turner acknowledges that she has lived for eight decades before expressing her thoughts on what she expected she’d be like at this age.

“Not like this,” she says. “How is this? Well, I look great, I feel good. I’ve gone through some very serious sicknesses that I’m overcoming. So it’s like having a second chance at life.”

In her 2018 memoir, My Love Story, Turner revealed that she suffered from several health problems, including a stroke, a kidney transplant and intestinal cancer. She discussed her health further with Real Health in the magazine’s summer 2019 issue.

“When I was younger, I thought I would live forever,” Turner told Real Health. “I definitely took my health for granted. I didn’t ask many questions because I didn’t know what questions to ask….I’m much more knowledgeable today. Unfortunately, that information was hard-won.”

Turner said coming close to death is what motivated her to become educated about her kidneys and all the other health issues she was experiencing.

“I’m very happy to be an 80-year-old woman,” Turner says just before the video’s conclusion.

Many other celebrities tweeted personal sentiments about “the Queen of Rock ’n’ Roll,” including Missy Elliot, Cher and Ringo Starr, all of whom sent Turner birthday shout-outs and well-wishes.
