Marcia Cross is no stranger to cancer; her husband battled the disease eight years ago. But the Desperate Housewives star recently revealed that she is recovering from anal cancer, PEOPLE reports.
“So grateful and happy to be alive but sad that my hair fell out and is about 1 inch long now and looks cra cra,” Cross, 56, wrote September 15 on Instagram. “Anyone else have #hairloss due to #cancer? Talk to me. I feel you.”
After fans expressed concern that she was still sick, Cross returned to social media the next day to reassure them.
“I am so sorry my post wasn’t clear,” she wrote September 16. “I am POST cancer. All good now. Hard journey, but I am HEALTHY, happy, and more present and grateful than ever. Thank you from the bottom of my ever expanding heart for all of your LOVE.”
It was in a third post on her Instagram that Cross shared that she previously had anal cancer.
“After posting a picture of myself here and uttering the words #cancer and #hairloss, I felt liberated, deliriously free and completely me,” she wrote. “I am ecstatically alive and what interests me post cancer is #AUTHENCITY. #VULNERABILITY. #TRANSPARENCE. And of course #LOVE.”
Later in the same post, she wrote, “On that note, if you were wondering, I had #analcancer. I know, right?!”
Overwhelmed by the love and kindness she received following her revelation, Cross expressed her gratitude for all the support.
She wrote, “Thank you again for your love and for sharing your personal stories of struggle with #cancer and #hairloss and getting your footing in the world.”
