The Italian-American E! Network TV personality, 45, revealed in October 2011 that she had begun a battle with breast cancer, detected while she was preparing for in vitro fertilization. “I wasn’t prepared to get a mammogram until I was 40 years old, like I’d been told,” she told E! She had a mastectomy.
“I am 7 years cancer-free, which is wonder, but I have to say that it’s interesting being 7 years out—it’s a very different feeling than those first 5 years,” Rancic shared with People in May 2019. “Those first 5 years, I was just thinking about breast cancer — I was consumed by it. I was probably thinking about it … it felt like every minute of the day. “Now, I am able to look back and obviously I am so thankful and grateful to be here and healthy today.”
