This home where 13+ years ago, my husband and I had to have it — very different from the cookie cutter semis that litter Staten Island — our own mini-mansion with twists and turns and rooms to fill beyond our wildest dreams — we have been the caretakers of this beautiful property with a double sized backyard, a pool, a pool house, a deck for watching fireworks over the Verrazano Bridge and 5 bedrooms with over 3 floors of living space — a rustic, beautiful diamond in the rough with so many places for kids to play hide and seek and lounge and rest in their mama’s lap …

Places where memories are made and the light pours in and makes the rooms shine with the love of family, gatherings, space space and more space, close to public transportation, close to NYC, Brooklyn and beyond — a home that is for new beginnings we as stewards are ready to hand off to the next lucky family -is it you or someone you know?

Thinking About Our House-Buying Process in 2006 …

When the time came for my husband and I to buy a house we looked and looked and could not find the one …

Everything was small and weird and 2 previous offers fell through due to strange issues. When we found this house in 2006, I was working full time as a vice president at a large financial firm my husband was a sergeant in the NYPD and we had no idea what we were doing but we were adulting. We had no kids but fell in love with this house so hard.

The family who sold it to us owned three properties on the block going back to the 1800s. Our house was the “middle child,” built in 1905, and so large and yet welcoming that we immediately were in love.

When we got the keys and had a housewarming party we were absolutely giddy with excitement and awe. Most of our friends and other people we knew were buying semis (semi-detached homes) for way more than we paid for this large, spacious gorgeous home.

Most people had postage-size lots while we had the equivalent of two large, park-like lots with a separate building with a kitchen and bathroom and garage — I mean, how lucky could we get! How lucky can you get — check it out here.

Not bragging, just lucky … stewardship is a big word that means taking care of something for the next person — we have lovingly maintained this home. The deck has been our place to watch the sunrises, sunsets, rainbows, fireworks and more.

Our yard(s) have hosted more parties than I can count with family and friends all combining together to become family.

Our bedrooms are spacious and bright with three bedrooms on the second floor, hook-ups for a second kitchen, laundry, full bathroom and a French door to shut to not hear downstairs. This house is so well built, the sound does not carry but if it does, the door shuts.

Also on second floor is an eat in kitchen area, access to deck and a flight of stairs to the third floor living space — a bedroom, bathroom and office as well as storage on the other side of the attic.

On the first floor is a big foyer, living room and a playroom or bedroom with a Jack and Jill set up through a bathroom into an office (or bedroom) out to the formal dining room and then into the large spacious kitchen and eat-in kitchen area, then right to the double yard. Enough room on the driveway to fit 5 or more cars with a pool house / kitchenette and bathroom and then a large yard area opening into an even larger yard with a pool, all tree-covered and private.

From our second floor we have views of the Verrazano bridge and beyond.

We each commuted to work easily and brought home our babies to this house. I survived cancer in this home surrounded by love and support … this house is heart, it is built by love of the first family who owned it for 101 years and us for 13 … come check it out — we welcome you …
